Department of Economics organized a lecture on January 22, 2018 by renowned economist Dr. Nadeem ul Haque

The lecture started with recitation from the Holy Quarn. The guests for the seminar were formally welcomed on the stage which included Dr. Nadeem ul Haque, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen: Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Abdul Salam: Chair, Abdul Qadir Memorial Chair State Bank of Pakistan, Mrs. Dr. Kasoom Zulfiqar: Incharge Department of Economics, and Dr. Tariq Riaz.
Mrs. Dr. Kalsoom Zulfiqar incharge department of Economics welcomed and thanked the chief guest and participants and provided brief overview about the departmental programs and objectives of the research seminar series. Prof. Dr. Abdul Salam introduced the chief guest and provided brief overview of his professional achievements.
Dr. Nadeem highlighted the resources of Pakistan and its potential to be among the top countries in the world particularly in Asia. He also threw light on the current state of affairs in Pakistan. He offered various options to emerge from the current mess and realise the potential of the country. He specially stressed the need for investment in human resources and lamented the failure of Pakistani economists to provide proper policy frameworks. The lecture generated animated discussion from the participants who asked Dr. Nadeem ul Haque several probing questions to which he cheerfully replied.
Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen thanked Dr. Nadeem ul Haque for his wonderful talk and discussion and presented him a departmental souvenir as a token of appreciation.
